All About The Abu Dhabi Toll

Thanks to the toll gate system of Abu Dhabi, everything has changed. It is one of the best reforms to take place in the UAE. The credit goes to the UAE president, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed for creating the Abu Dhabi toll.

In 2018, while the UAE President announced the Abu Dhabi Toll, it became operational in 2020 only. It was a significant achievement, nevertheless. However, a lot of people have many questions regarding the DARB. Let’s resolve all of the questions one by one:

What is The Abu Dhabi Toll?

The DARB toll can be compared to the Salik. The DARB toll is another name for the Abu Dhabi Toll. Completely automated, it provides ease to everyone. The lawmakers and all the drivers and citizens will go through the gates. If anything, it’s a great system to regulate traffic – which is one thing everyone hates.

The Gate Activation

Abu Dhabi Toll

Abu Dhabi DARB toll was inaugurated in 2020. Because of the COVID-19 outbreak, the government decided not to charge any toll fee in 2020. However, in 2021 the government officially instated the DARB. All the travelers have to do is to make sure to undergo registration for the gate. Registering your vehicles is the best step to avoid any fines.

Registration

Registration is often a very stressful process. Not in Abu Dhabi. The toll gate system of Abu Dhabi is much more comfortable. The vehicles that have already registered in Salik Abu Dhabi may avail of the ADRB for free! If you haven’t registered this way, register through the official DARB site or app.

The Registration Requirements

For the DARB toll, you need to submit the following things:

  • Name
  • Cell number
  • Details of your vehicle
  • Registration fee
  • Emirates Identification number

The registration fee is at AED 100. However, apart from this, there will be toll costs and charges. You will also get a small amount returned to your account.

The standard charge would be AED 4. However, peak factors would apply to motorists. The DARB toll cannot charge more than AED 16 per day.

Bottom Line

Stay safe while driving, and be sure to follow all rules to avoid fines and extra charges for the toll. You’ll be good to go as long as you have your registration completed.
